Wednesday and Thursday We were out in the field where set up for our first Game Capturing at Sondela . On Wednesday we went to the veld and started to set up the boma for the capturing. It is hard work because everything wasn't organised and threr was trouble in the commun ication part. But all and all we did well and everything got done in time for the next days work. On Thursday we started early in the morning and got a little lucky on a catch of wildebeeste. It was an extreme adrenaline rush running with the curtains and also chacing the animals into the truck. yes some of us had a few close encounters but it is part of the job and i was ready for it LUCKILY. The day went well and there were no serious injuries and all was weel and ready for the next days capture wich i didn't do because it was the start of my off weekend

Site Guide Week 3

So in the previous weeks we were told that Site Guiding is alot of work and we realised that but we didn't know what was coming for us this week. In  this week we learned about Ecology, Reptiles, Astronomy, Aracnida(spiders) and Insects. Now this is alot of work to do and it is between our own game drives that we started to do. And not just was it the work that we were scared of it was like a oven inside and outside the class room. We surely learned alot in this past three week and some days Christene Swart came and visited us and gave us class and taught us alot. In this week Christene(Whom is also our snake wrangler) was very busy with snakes being spotted. Tuesday Christene foned and told us she wants to see us se has a suprise for us Site Guides. When we got to her She caught 2 juvenile Snouted Cobra's(were known as the Mosambiqcan spitting cobra) She told us that the name was changed because it can really spit its venom. We went with Christene to release the to little ones. This week i realised that hard work and alot of effort will bring good marks.

Site Guide Week 2

After a week of hard work we started working on game drives but it didn't mean that we know everything but learned as we went along. we also had to do pre trail briefings and things like how are we going to handle situations on game drives. (I wll post a few photo's as soon as we are able to do it). It was all a great experience and this week we gat so more really difficult work we had to do trees. We were in the caravan park this week but we constantly cept on learning about the previous weeks work and it all just flown into each other

Site Guide Week 1

So this week it was right in to our firts course at Sondela. Luckily mine was at Site Guiding and man was i excited. The main thing we did this week was to get our licences for the game drive vechiles. So after that was done our facilitators Salaminah and 2nd yeart student Antoinet introduced us to Site Guiding. Then came the fun part we got learning material on Mammals and also Birds and Grass. This was really interesting because of the Scientific names and also the info we got on the 3 subjects. I learned hard this week because it was alot of difficult work ald also we had a little bit of trouble to understand all of it and we wrote test on the work each and every day
